Springfield livestock sales

The Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Mo., reported receipts of 1,903 head Aug. 27, compared to 2,021 head last week and 1,763 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo.

Compared to last week, steers under 550 pounds were $2 to $3 lower, over 550 pounds were unevenly steady. Holsteins steady compared to light test last week, heifers were $1 to $3 lower. Demand and supply were moderate. Several spring born bull and heifer calves in the offering along with the usual supply of yearlings. The feeder supply included 31% steers, 21% Holsteins, 33% heifers, 16% bulls, with 46% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 450 to 500 lbs., 117.00 to 122.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 110.00 to 117.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 109.00 to 118.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 105.00 to 111.50; 800 to 850 lbs., 102.50 to 110.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400 to 500 lbs., 108.00 to 124.00; 550 to 600 lbs., 105.00 to 115.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 102.00 to 112.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 101.00 to 108.50; 800 to 850 lbs., 102.00 to 106.50.

Holsteins: Large frame 3, 325 to 375 lbs., 73.00 to 87.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 73.50 to 89.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 74.00 to 82.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 70.00 to 78.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 75.50 to 80.00; 800 to 850 lbs., 78.00 to 79.00; couple packages 950 to 975 lbs., 65.00; package 1129 lbs., 60.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 500 lbs., 99.00 to 104.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 99.00 to 108.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 99.00 to 105.00, calves 96.50 to 99.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 99.00 to 101.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 95.00 to 104.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 93.00 to 103.50, package thin 104.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 90.00 to 103.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 90.00 to 103.50; 700 to 725 lbs., 90.00 to 102.00.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 425 lbs., 132.00 to 133.00; 525 to 600 lbs., 100.00 to 108.00; 600 to 650 lbs., 103.50 to 104.50, fleshy calves 88.00 to 92.00; package 706 lbs., fleshy calves 85.00; 750 to 775 lbs., 89.00 to 94.50 . Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 425 to 500 lbs., 105.00 to 115.50, lot 439 lbs., thin 116.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 102.00 to 107.00, package 566 lbs., thin 109.00; 650 to 675 lbs., few 98.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 94.00 to 98.00, package fleshy 92.50; lot 805 lbs., 91.50. Large frame 1, 500 to 575 lbs., 103.00 to 109.50; 600 to 650 lbs., calves 99.00 to 102.00.
