Three days of grueling International competition will feature--tough yearling Rambouillet ewes, sagebrush, cactus, antelope, and border collies. Add good food, vendors, shearers, cooks and some wool and you have an event filled Labor Day weekend. Jordan will judge each dog make two runs on an international course on the first days of the trial. The top 10 dogs will face off for the finals on the third day, Sept. 1 for a $10,000 purse. As Jordan visits Kaycee this coming Labor Day weekend, he'll see sheep worked in a different environment than he's used to, but the basics are still the same.

Cooking and Lamb--Another highlight of the weekend in the People's Choice Lamb Cook-off held the first evening. Lamb specialties will grace the tables for all to sample and select the winning entree. Cook-off visitors will be treated to a World Celebration of the Wool Fashion Industry Fashion Show featuring hand sewn wool garments. During the three-day festival, food vendors will showcase lamb prepared in a variety of ways. A free lamb barbecue will treat visitors in the evening Aug. 31 in downtown Kaycee before the Calcutta and Sheepman's Olympics.

Spinners, Crafters and Authors--The sheep festival will feature artisans from all facets of the sheep industry. Catch a visit with a writer in her Sheep Wagon, take part in a Dutch Oven cooking workshop, learn how to felt wool or shop amongst the many vendors booths that will be at the trial site each day. One can visit the many displays of sheep breeds, watch professionals shearing sheep, see wool spun into yarn and shop for finely woven and knitted wool items.
