Salina livestock sales reportThe Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 4,216 head Aug. 21, compared to 3,891 head last week and 3,632 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan. Compared with last week, steers at 300 to 550 pounds were not tested, 550 to 750 pounds were steady to $1 lower, and 750 to 1050 pounds were steady to $2 lower. Heifers at 300 to 500 pounds were not tested, 500 to 750 pounds were mostly steady, 750 to 1000 pounds were steady to $1 lower, mostly steady. Trade was active. Demand was good. Receipts included 93% 600 pounds and over, 6% 600 pounds and under, 1% slaughter cows. The feeder supply was 58% steers and 42% heifers.
