North Arkansas livestock sales reportThe North Arkansas Livestock, Green Forest, Ark., reported receipts of 1,045 head Aug. 27, compared to 1,354 head last year, according to the Arkansas Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Little Rock, Ark. Compared to two weeks ago, slaughter cows were $2 to $3 lower. Slaughter bulls $3 lower. Feeder steers, mixed nearly steady. Feeder heifers mixed with the better heifers under 650 pounds were steady to $3 higher, with full advance on the black-hided over 650 pounds, and plainer kind generally steady to $3 lower. Slaughter cows made up 10% of the offering, replacement cows 19%, slaughter bulls 2%, and feeders 88%. The feeder supply included 29% steers, 46% heifers, and 25% bulls, with nearly 46% over 600 pounds.
