Keith Bolin to lead ACGA another term

The American Corn Growers Association Board of Directors unanimously reelected Keith Bolin, a Manlius, Ill., corn and hog producer, as president. Bolin vowed to keep ACGA in the forefront of efforts to improve the economic situation for all hard-pressed farm families.

Bolin addressed the ACGA board and all of the nation's farmers when he said, "ACGA's vision is truly your vision. If you believe in competition, please support ACGA with your membership. If you desire vibrant rural main streets, churches that are full on Sunday morning, rural schools that offer what the schools in the suburbs offer, then please help us help you. Together, we are making a difference. The American farmer has been and will continue to make a difference in the independence of America, whether it is food, fuel, clothing or shelter, America can depend on her farmers. We at ACGA are proud to represent you, your family and community."

ACGA also reelected Troy Roush as Vice President for the coming year. Roush farms with his father and two brothers around the town of Van Buren, Ind., producing corn, soybeans, wheat and popcorn, on lands his family has farmed since 1828. Roush also produces tomatoes as the co-owner of a business with two friends. He has been active in state politics, and was instrumental in the passage of the Indiana "Farmers Bill of Rights" in 2001. Roush has also been engaged in speaking throughout the U.S. and Europe on issues of concern to family farmers.

In addition to Bolin and Roush, ACGA reelected the following corn farmers to serve as officers:

--Carl King, Dimmitt, Texas, as Chairman of the Board Emeritus,

--Keith Dittrich, Tilden, Neb., Chairman of the Board,

--Lars Herseth, Houghton, S.D., as Second Vice-President,

--David Dechant, Ft. Lupton, Colo., as Secretary, and

--Mark Lounsbery of Revillo, S.D. as Treasurer.

ACGA also reelected the following corn farmers to serve on the ACGA Board of Directors:

--Harold Bob Bennett, Hart, Texas

--David DeChant, Ft. Lupton, Colo.

--Rob Koskan, Wood, S.D.

--Dennis Mitchell, Houghton, S.D.

--Steve Waters, Carter, S.D.

ACGA recently appointed Pam Horwitz as Executive Director, and retained Lisa Miles as Director of the National Office and Larry Mitchell as Director of Governmental Affairs.

The American Corn Growers Association represents 14,000 members in 35 states. If you believe in the work of ACGA and want to be a part of the organization, please join and/or find additional details at www.acga.org.
