Junior Livestock Sale makes its Internet debutColorado 2008 Colorado State Fair Junior Livestock Sale presented by Colorado's Touchstone Energy Cooperatives features some big changes this year. Two new market divisions will be in this years' sale and for the first time ever Coloradans can watch the Junior Livestock Sale live through webcast. The Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion Rabbit and Chicken pens of three, usually consisting of a parent and two offspring, will be auctioned off for the first time ever during the 2008 Sale. "We've added the market division to our rabbit and chicken contests to help 4-H and FFA kids who may not have the resources or space necessary to raise larger livestock," stated Jeanne Robison, Colorado State Fair Livestock Manager. For the first time ever the Colorado State Fair Junior Livestock Sale will be broadcast live on the Internet. "We are very happy that Coloradans who are unable to make it to the fairgrounds will be able to participate live with their loved ones who are here at the sale, and results will be available nearly instantaneously," said Robison. The 2007 Junior Livestock Sale was a record breaking year, posting a total of over $412,000. "Last year the involvement from the community and our buyer groups was tremendous," stated Chris Wiseman, Colorado State Fair General Manager, "This year we hope to continue that commitment to youth in agriculture." The addition of the live webcast, instant online results, and market rabbits and poultry will only further community involvement in this important event. A link will be available on the Colorado State Fair homepage that will lead directly to the live webcast. Tentative results and totals will be available online as they are determined at the sale. The 2008 Colorado State Fair runs from Aug. 22 to Sept. 1. For more information, visit www.coloradostatefair.com.
