Joplin regional cattle sales reportThe Joplin Regional Stockyards, Joplin, Mo., reported receipts of 4,900 head Aug. 25, compared to 4,711 head last week and 2,787 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo. Compared to last week, steers were steady, heifers under 500 pounds were $2 to $5 lower, 500 to 700 pounds were $1 to $3 lower, over 700 pounds were steady. Demand and supply were moderate. The bulk of the offering were weaned calves and yearlings. The feeder supply included 41% steers, 48% heifers, 10% bulls, with 53% over 600 pounds.
