Goldthwaite sheep sales

The Mills County Commission Co., Goldthwaite, Texas, reported receipts of 3,915 head of sheep and goats Aug. 22, compared to 1,930 head last week and 2,149 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, stock and feeder lambs were not tested. Light slaughter lambs were $10 to $12 higher, heavy weights were steady. Stock and feeder goats were not tested. Slaughter goats were $8 to $10 higher. Demand was very good. The supply included around 40% sheep including nearly 1000 lambs. Prices per CWT unless specified.

Stock and feeder: Stock ewes, wool, Medium and large frame 1 to 2, few 125 baby tooth to solid mouth 60.00 to 70.00 per head. Dorper bucks, 145.00 to 260.00 per head. Barbados ewes, few 60 to 90 lbs., 30.00 to 40.00. Barbados bucks, 125.00 to 490.00 per head.

Slaughter lambs: Choice and Prime 2 to 3, 90 to 120 lbs., 90.00 to 101.00. Good and Choice 1 to 3, 40 to 85 lbs., 113.00 to 126.00, few 128.00. Good, 40 to 85 lbs., 98.00 to 110.00. Barbados, lambs, 40 to 80 lbs., 104.00 to 113.00; Ewes: 80 to 110 lbs., 40.00 to 51.00. Bucks, few 100 lbs., 54.00.

Slaughter goats: Kids, Selection 1, 40 to 60 lbs., 120.00 to 132.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 120.00 to 132.00. Selection 2, 40 to 60 lbs., 109.00 to 119.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 108.00 to 118.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 30.00 to 45.00. Billies, 90 to 200 lbs., 71.00 to 85.00, few light weights 85.00 to 90.00. Muttons, Selection 2, 95 to 135 lbs., 71.00 to 95.00.

Replacement goats: Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 50.00 to 70.00. Selection 2, 80 to 130 lbs., 35.00 to 50.00. Pairs, 30.00 to 52.00 per head. Billies, Selection 1, 90 to 120 lbs., fancy 100.00 to 140.00.
