Georgia livestock sales summaryThe summary for Georgia cattle auctions for the week ending Aug. 22, totaled 13,599 head, compared to 12,797 head last week and 12,874 head last year, according to the USDA-Georgia Department of Agriculture Market News, Thomasville, Ga. Compared to one week ago, slaughter cows and bulls were steady to $1 lower. Feeder steers and heifers were steady to $2 lower. Steer calves were steady to $1 lower, and heifer calves were steady to $2 lower. Replacement cows were steady to $3 lower. The offering was composed of 8% steers over 600 pounds, 35% steers under 600 pounds, 6% heifers over 600 pounds, 27% heifers under 600 pounds, 7% feeder cows, 15% slaughter cows and 2% bulls.
