Ericson cattle sales report

The Ericson Spalding Livestock Auction, Ericson, Neb., reported receipts of 2,400 head Aug. 23, compared to 2,225 head two weeks ago and 1,600 head last year, according to the USDA-Nebraska Department of Agriculture Market News, Kearney, Neb.

Compared to two weeks ago, feeder cattle trended fully steady. There was average to good cattle quality, with heaviest demand for yearling weights over 800 pounds. Receipts consisted of 64% steers and 36% heifers, 84% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 8 head, 431 lbs., 136.00; 21 head, 495 lbs., 127.50; 563 to 591 lbs., 114.00 to 123.00 (120.33); 607 to 635 lbs., 119.50 to 126.75 (123.06); 38 head, 674 lbs., 119.25 to 120.35 (120.09); 22 head, 744 lbs., 110.25; 753 to 776 lbs., 117.00; 891 to 897 lbs., 114.35; 900 to 948 lbs., 110.75 to 114.35 (113.37); 957 to 994 lbs., 103.75 to 111.10 (109.64). Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 17 head, 465 lbs., 128.00; 560 to 585 lbs., 117.50 to 119.50 (117.72); 24 head, 691 lbs., 114.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 5 head, 366 lbs., 122.50; 17 head, 466 lbs., 117.50; 66 head, 529 lbs., 115.50; 573 to 576 lbs., 113.50 to 117.00 (114.02); 28 head, 636 lbs., 117.25; 681 to 698 lbs., 114.50 to 116.50 (115.29); 706 to 730 lbs., 109.25 to 112.00 (111.10); 759 to 767 lbs., 113.25 to 113.75 (113.51); 805 to 837 lbs., 111.35 to 111.50 (111.40); 28 head, 872 lbs., 110.85; 909 to 946 lbs., 101.25 to 106.60 (105.04); 29 head, 962 lbs., 104.25 .
