CDA certifies Roggen Farmers Elevator Association

Colorado

The Colorado Department of Agriculture has approved Roggen Farmers Elevator Association to buy, sell, and store grain. The facility is currently licensed as a Commodity Handler and Public Warehouse by CDA.

"Roggen was licensed as a federal warehouse but decided to make the change to a state warehouse license and that is completely acceptable," said Mark Gallegos, Program Administrator for CDA's Commodity Handler Program. "Industry partners need to be aware that Roggen is conducting business as usual."

Roggen Farmers Elevator Association has facilities in Roggen, Brush, Bennett, Nunn and Briggsdale.

Grain warehouses store grain that belongs to others, merchandise grain, and provide a variety of other services to the agricultural community. Grain warehouses have control and custody of millions of dollars of grain that doesn't belong to them. Due to geography and transportation costs, producers have limited options for who can store and merchandise their grain. This places the grain warehouse in an important position of trust within the rural communities that they serve.

The goal of CDA's Commodity Warehouse Program is to insure the security of grain and beans held in safekeeping for Colorado producers and owners, and to assure them they will receive just compensation for their products, thus fostering a stronger agricultural economy and lower food prices for all consumers.
