Woodward livestock sales reportThe Woodward Livestock Auction, Woodward, Okla., reported receipts of 2,627 head Oct. 17, compared to 4,751 head last week and 7,552 head last year, according to the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla. Compared to last week, feeder cattle and calves were $1 to $3 higher. Demand was moderate to good and activity had improved from recent weeks. There was broad demand for 300- to 500-pound steer calves to go to wheat. Quality was attractive with several consignments of No. 1 native calves and short yearlings on offer. Weigh-ups were average to full. The supply included 56% over 600 pounds and 40% heifers.
