Winter wheat seeding completeColorado Most of Colorado received below normal amounts of moisture and temperatures were about 3 degrees cooler than the average for this time of year. These conditions allowed producers 5.9 days suitable for field operations. Winter wheat seeded was complete by week's end and was 87 percent emerged with the crop in mostly good condition. The corn crop was 97 percent mature and 45 percent harvested with the crop in mostly fair to good condition. Ninety-seven percent of the corn silage crop has been harvested. Sorghum was 95 percent mature and 39 percent harvested with the crop in mostly fair to poor condition. The dry bean crop was 93 percent cut, 79 percent harvested, and in mostly fair to good condition for the week. Dry onions were 98 percent harvested. Sugarbeets were 42 percent harvested and in mostly good condition. The sunflower crop was 51 percent harvested and rated in mostly fair to excellent condition. Summer potatoes were 98 percent harvested while fall potatoes were 94 percent by week's end. Pasture and range conditions rated in mostly fair to good condition. Third cutting alfalfa harvest was complete by week's end while fourth cutting was 56 percent complete. The crop was rated in mostly fair to good condition. Death losses for cattle and sheep were rated just below average. Stored feed supplies were rated just above average for this time of year. 10/27/08 Date: 10/22/08 Advertisement
