Wheat bids down

Support for corn and beans came in the rally for both the stock market and higher crude oil as wheat traded in the opposite direction as exports are below expectations, according to the National Grain Market Summary, Oct. 20.

Wheat closed mixed. Corn traded mostly 16 cents higher. Soybeans closed 35 to 45 cents higher.

Grains inspected for export for week ending Oct. 16,: Wheat totaled 16.1 million bushels, down 8.3 million bushels; corn 26.9 million bushels, down 3.8 million bushels; sorghum 2.1 million bushels, down 1.6 million bushels and soybeans 27.9 million bushels, up 14.3 million bushels compared to a week ago.

Year to date: Wheat totaled 498.3 million bushels down 57.9 million; corn 223.9 million bushels down 77.6 million; sorghum 23.1 million bushels down 29.5 million and soybeans 76.0 million bushels down 63.3 million. Crop marketing years begin June 1 for wheat and September 1 for corn, sorghum, and soybeans.

In the futures close, Kansas City December wheat was $5.95 3/4, down 1 3/4 cents.

Terminal wheat bids, paid for truck delivery, included Kansas City, $5.44, down 2 cents; Minneapolis, $6.72 3/4, up 2 1/2 cents; Portland, $5.05 to $5.35, unchanged to up 15 cents; St. Louis, $4.24, up 8 cents.

Terminal corn bids, U.S. No. 2 yellow, price paid for truck deliver, included: Kansas City, $4.04 to $4.04, up 16 cents; Minneapolis, $3.71 1/2, up 28 1/2 cents; southern Iowa, $3.78 1/2 to $3.81 1/2, up 16 1/2 cents; Omaha, $4.08 to $4.10, up 16 cents.

Terminal soybean bids, U.S. No. 1, price paid for truck delivery, included: Kansas City, $8.99, up 35 cents; Minneapolis, $8.79, up 45 cents; southern Iowa, $8.80 to $8.92, up 46 to 39 cents; central Illinois processors, $9.04 to $9.19, up 35 cents.

Kansas City wheat prices Oct. 21, spot, fob track, included: No. 1 hard red winter wheat, ordinary protein, $5.47 to $6.32, down 13 3/4 to 8 3/4 cents; 12% protein, $6.22 to $6.43, down 19 3/4 to 13 3/4 cents; 13% protein, $6.39 to $6.54, down 13 3/4 to 9 3/4 cents; 14% protein, $6.39 to $6.54, down 13 3/4 cents. U.S. No. 2 soft red winter wheat was $3.97 to $4.97, down 8 3/4 cents. U.S. No. 2 white corn was $4.27 to $4.38, up 19 to 14 cents.
