Tulia livestock sales report

The Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 1,018 head Oct. 20, compared to 954 head last week and 3,156 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were steady to $2 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. Trade and demand were moderate to good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 4% of the offering and feeders 96%. The feeder supply included 69% steers, 29% heifers and 2% bulls, with nearly 46% of the run over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 350 lbs., 137.00 to 139.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 113.50 to 129.00, 480 to 500 lbs., fleshy 107.50 to 110.00; 500 to 530 lbs., 102.50 to 107.50, 550 to 570 lbs., fleshy 98.00 to 99.00; 600 to 700 lb. calves 90.75 to 94.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 100.00 to 101.35; load 928 lbs., 94.60. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 490 lbs., 103.50; package 599 lbs., 95.00, lot 568 lbs., fleshy 93.00; 600 to 650 lbs., 92.50 to 93.75, package 679 lbs., 89.00.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, lot 673 lbs., 80.00.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 110.00 to 113.50; 400 to 450 lbs., 100.00 to 106.50, package 467 lbs., 97.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 92.00 to 97.00; 600 to 650 lbs., 83.00 to 85.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, lot 566 lbs., 88.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 51.00; high dressing, 54.00 to 55.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 52.00 to 52.50; high dressing, 54.50 to 56.00; low dressing, 48.50 to 49.75; 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 49.00 to 52.50; high dressing, 54.00 to 54.50; low dressing, 47.00 to 48.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 45.00; 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 45.00 to 48.00; high dressing, 48.50 to 51.00; low dressing, 42.50; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 45.00 to 48.00; high dressing, 48.00 to 52.50; low dressing, 43.00; 85 to 90% lean, under 800 lbs., 40.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1400 lbs., 56.00; high dressing, 1500 to 1800 lbs., 65.00 to 65.25; low dressing, 1350 to 1500 lbs., 53.50 to 53.75.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle-aged, 900 lbs., with 150-lb. calves, 885.00 per pair.
