St. Onge livestock salesThe St. Onge Livestock Co., Ltd., reported receipts of 2,343 head Oct. 17, compared to 1,602 head last week and 3,366 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week's sale, no accurate trends were available for feeder steers and heifers due to lack of numbers on offer. Steer calves under 600 pounds sold $2 to $6 higher, and steer calves weighing over 600 pounds sold $3 to $4 higher. Heifer calves weighing under 600 pounds sold $1 to $4 higher, and no accurate comparison on heifer calves over 600 pounds. Buyer attendance was moderate with moderate demand. The supply consisted of approximately 50% steers, 50% heifers, and 19% weighing over 600 pounds.
