Salina livestock sales report

The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 700 head Oct. 16, compared to 601 head last week and 2,309 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared to last week, steers and heifers were not enough for a market test, and extremely low undertones were noted. Trade was slow, demand was light. Receipts included 60% 600 pounds and over, 39% 600 pounds and under, 1% slaughter cows. The feeder supply included 63% steers and 37% heifers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 450 lbs., 105.00 to 105.50 (105.17); 500 to 550 lbs., 102.00 to 105.00 (104.54); 550 to 600 lbs., 98.00 to 102.50 (101.21); 9 head, 649 lbs., 98.00; 800 to 850 lbs., 94.50 to 97.00 (96.70); 9 head, 870 lbs., 95.75. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 450 to 500 lbs., 101.00 to 104.50 (103.43); 500 to 550 lbs., 98.00 to 101.00 (99.45); 550 to 600 lbs., 96.00 to 97.00 (96.60); 600 to 650 lbs., 96.00; 750 to 800 lbs., 93.50 to 94.75 (94.66). Medium and large frame 2, 550 to 600 lbs., 92.00 to 93.00 (92.94); 650 to 700 lbs., 91.00 to 92.00 (91.94); 700 to 750 lbs., 87.25 to 90.00 (89.55); 5 head, 759 lbs., 89.50. Medium frame 1, 6 head, 590 lbs., 90.00. Medium frame 2, 550 to 600 lbs., 80.00 to 84.00 (82.35).

Holstein steers: Large frame 3, 6 head, 720 lbs., 65.00; 12 head, 873 lbs., 56.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 450 to 500 lbs., 95.00 to 95.50 (95.07). Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 5 head, 454 lbs., 93.55; 6 head, 518 lbs., 93.00; 550 to 600 lbs., 91.00 to 93.00 (92.62); 700 to 750 lbs., 90.50 to 91.50 (90.94); 800 to 850 lbs., 87.75 to 88.25 (87.77). Medium and large frame 2, 550 to 600 lbs., 88.00 to 91.75 (88.73); 700 to 750 lbs., 87.00 to 88.00 (87.42); 6 head, 895 lbs., 83.50.
