Oklahoma County 4-H hosts old fashioned chili supperOklahoma Anyone looking for a delicious, but economical meal, is invited to attend the Oklahoma County 4-H 6th Annual Chili and Bean Supper Nov. 3, at the OSU Cooperative Extension Auditorium, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. In addition to the Chili Supper, diners will get to take part in a silent auction that begins at 5:30 p.m., and a live auction at 7 p.m. Tickets for adults are only $3 and for youth 6 to 12 years old $2. Children 5 and under eat for free. "Our 4-H crew makes some of the best chili around," commented 4-H Youth Educator Kyle Worthington. "The recipe we use is from an award-winning chili that is the best most of us have ever tasted." All proceeds from the dinner and auction go to benefit the Oklahoma County 4-H program. "We had a wonderful turnout for this event last year," commented Worthington. "I don't know of anywhere else where you can fill up on homemade chili, beans, cornbread and all the fixings that go with it for $3." Supporters from Oklahoma County 4-H have also donated a variety of homemade pies and cakes that will be auctioned off immediately following the dinner event. In addition, a number of one-of-a-kind items will be auctioned off during both the silent and live auction. Antique dolls, a custom bird house, Oklahoma Native Art, John Deere tool boxes, Harbor Freight tools, Delco Tools, gift certificates to places like Sheplers, Little Joe's, Chelinos, and Hibdon Tires, and lodging at area hotels are just a few of the items up for auction. Tickets to the International Professional Rodeo Association finals will also be auctioned off to the highest bidder. "We want to encourage everyone who has ever been a 4-H member, have children who are interested in 4-H or just want to enjoy a delicious meal to come on by and join us," Worthington said. Tickets will be available at the door. The Oklahoma County OSU Extension Center is located at 930 N. Portland in Oklahoma City.
