North Arkansas livestock sales report

The North Arkansas Livestock, Green Forest, Ark., reported receipts of 886 head Oct. 22, compared to 684 head last week and 1,065 head last year, according to the Arkansas Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Little Rock, Ark.

Compared to last week, slaughter cows were steady to $1 higher. Slaughter bulls not fully tested. Feeder steers and bulls were steady to $4 higher, instances were $5 to $8 higher. Feeder heifers were mixed, generally steady to $2 higher. The supply included about 506 feeders, 249 yearlings, 45 replacement cows, 81 slaughter cows, and 5 slaughter bulls. The feeder supply included 43% steers, 33% heifers, and 24% bulls, with nearly 33% of the run over 600 pounds.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 47.50 to 51.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1400 lbs., 43.00 to 48.00; high dressing, 48.00 to 52.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 900 to 1300 lbs., 42.00 to 46.00; low dressing, 35.00 to 41.00. Light, 85 to 92% lean, 700 to 950 lbs., 32.00 to 37.00; low dressing, 28.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1000 to 2100 lbs., 57.00 to 58.00; high dressing, 66.50; low dressing, 50.00 to 52.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 2 to 7 years old, 900 to 1200 lbs., with 100- to 250-lb. calves, 890.00 to 950.00 per pair.
