Missouri

Wet weather conditions during the week ending Oct. 19 slowed field activities, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service, Missouri Field Office, Oct. 20.

The south-central district recorded the lowest average at 0.45 inches while the west-central district recorded the highest at 1.61 inches, with Cass and Lafayette counties receiving over 2 inches.

Ninety-four percent of the corn crop is mature, 23 days behind last year and normal. Harvest is 48 percent complete, over a month behind last year and almost a month behind normal. Overall, condition is rated 4 percent very poor, 13 percent poor, 32 percent fair, 41 percent good, and 10 percent excellent. Ninety-five percent of the soybean crop is turning color, 11 days behind normal. Eighty percent is dropping leaves, and fifty-nine percent is mature, 13 days behind normal. Harvest is 27 percent complete, 13 days behind last year and 11 days behind normal. Soybean condition is rated 5 percent very poor, 14 percent poor, 33 percent fair, 37 percent good, and 11 percent excellent. Rice harvest is 86 percent complete, two weeks behind last year and 8 days behind normal. Cotton harvest is 53 percent complete, over two weeks behind last year and 4 days behind normal. Eighty percent of the sorghum crop is mature, 17 days behind normal. Sorghum harvest is 40 percent complete, 15 days behind last year and 20 days behind normal. Sorghum condition is rated 2 percent very poor, 8 percent poor, 36 percent fair, 46 percent good, and 8 percent excellent. Winter wheat is 28 percent planted, 9 days behind last year and over a week behind normal. Emergence is at 12 percent, 7 days behind normal.

Pasture condition is rated 1 percent very poor, 5 percent poor, 30 percent fair, 53 percent good and 11 percent excellent, similar to last week. Normally at this time, only 29 percent is in good or better condition.
