Ericson cattle sales report

The Ericson Spalding Livestock Auction, Ericson, Neb., reported receipts of 1,000 head Oct. 18, compared to 2,500 head last week and 2,600 head last year, according to the USDA-Nebraska Department of Agriculture Market News, Kearney, Neb.

This sale provided a strong upswing from last week. Steers and heifers at 400 to 500 pounds traded $7 to $10 higher, with all other weights advancing $2 to $5 Receipts consisted of 59% steers and 41% heifers, with 21% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 360 to 365 lbs., 134.00 to 135.00 (134.46); 412 to 438 lbs., 124.00 to 130.25 (125.29); 453 to 481 lbs., 114.00 to 121.00 (117.03); 506 to 544 lbs., 112.00 to 116.50 (112.50); 551 to 585 lbs., 108.50 to 110.00 (109.54); 12 head, 605 lbs., 107.25 calves. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 9 head, 509 lbs., 108.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 363 to 366 lbs., 127.50 to 133.00 (130.34); 414 to 448 lbs., 108.00 to 121.25 (114.91); 450 to 498 lbs., 103.00 to 112.50 (109.69); 502 to 539 lbs., 100.00 to 109.00 (105.75); 13 head, 559 lbs., 102.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 5 head, 447 lbs., 104.50; 7 head, 621 lbs., 96.50 calves.
