Dodge City cattle sales report

Dodge City Winter Livestock, Inc., reported receipts of 867 head Oct. 15, compared to 2,260 head last week and 4,140 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared with last week, not enough steers and heifers for a market test, although a steady undertone was noted. Slaughter cows on a light test were $1 to $3 higher. Slaughter bulls not enough for test, a steady undertone was noted. Receipts included 68% 600 pounds and over, 29% under 600 pounds and 3% slaughter cows and bulls with 29 head, early. The feeder supply consisted of 58% steers and 42% heifers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 450 to 500 lbs., 115.00 to 119.00 (117.63); 65 head, 905 lbs., 93.60. Fleshy, 11 head, 595 lbs., 95.00; 9 head, 698 lbs., 94.25; 11 head, 720 lbs., 92.00; 14 head, 807 lbs., 94.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 13 head, 354 lbs., 110.50; 38 head, 565 100.10; 47 head, 625 lbs., 97.50; 40 head, 684 lbs., 93.75; 59 head, 722 lbs., 96.25; 750 to 800 lbs., 91.00 to 93.75 (92.76); 46 head, 834 lbs., 93.75. Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 350 lbs., 111.00 to 112.00; 31 head, 420 lbs., 105.00; 33 head, 499 lbs., 95.00; 45 head, 764 lbs., 90.00; 17 head, 821 lbs., 88.25; 62 head, 852 lbs., 91.00. Fleshy, 450 to 500 lbs., 93.00 to 94.00 (93.38); 9 head, 541 lbs., 91.50; 7 head, 603 lbs., 89.75. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 12 head, 582 lbs., 91.25; 15 head, 692 lbs., 90.25. Baby calves: Mixed steers and bulls, per head, individual 145 lbs., 55.00; individual 220 lbs., 220.00; 2 head, 265 to 280 lbs., 290.00 to 300.00 (295.14).

Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 53.50 to 55.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 44.00 to 52.00; high dressing, 52.50 to 54.00; low dressing, 35.00 to 40.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, few 61.50 to 63.00, few low dressing, 51.00 to 56.50.
