DNA carcass tested herd dispersing 350-plus headMore than 350 head of Angus, Red Angus and Gelbvieh females and bulls will go under the gavel on Saturday, Nov. 1, at the Goldrush Genetics/Rasmussen Gelbvieh Complete Dispersal, Guide Rock, Neb. The sale will be conducted at the Goldrush Genetics ranch near Guide Rock. This is the Gelbvieh breed's first DNA tested carcass dispersal, with a majority of the animals homozygous black, homozygous polled. "This dispersal is an tremendous opportunity to purchase females and bulls from the breed's leaders in carcass-plus genetics," states sale manager Roger Gatz of Cattlemen's Connection. "The female offering includes approximately 140 Gelbvieh, 90 Balancers, 40 Angus and 15 Red Angus-from heifer calves to bred heifers to proven cows. The bull offering includes 85 Balancer, Gelbvieh, Angus and Red Angus spring-born bulls as well as several herdsires. "This sale is the ideal time to purchase bulls for the coming spring breeding season-before the onslaught of bull sales hit," Gatz states. "I can almost guarantee you that buying now will save you hundreds of dollars. And, if you want, Goldrush Genetics will keep your young bulls and feed and grow them out for you until spring." Individuals wanting to bid on Goldrush Genetics/Rasmussen Genetics cattle have three choices: 1) attend the sale and bid; 2) use the sale manager's Sight Unseen Program; or 3) bid and buy via the internet using LiveAuctions.tv." To use LiveAuctions.tv, you must create an account and request a buyer number two days prior to the sale. To create an account, you simply visit www.LiveAuctions.tv and request a buyer number. Instructions available at www.LiveAuctions.tv will walk you through the account setup process. "Live audio and live video will allow buyers to bid on animals just as if they were present at the sale," Gatz explains. "Bidders will see each animal in the sale ring and hear my comments and the auctioneer. It's the next best thing to attending the auction yourself." Another option for those who cannot attend the dispersal is to use the Sight Unseen Program. The Sight Unseen program is a free program where another person represents you in the bleachers and does your bidding for you. Your proxy bidder knows your maximum bid for each animal and bids accordingly. Never does the bidder go over your maximum amount, and there are no rafter bids. "Some people give us a list of eight or 10 animals and want just one," explains sale consultant Roger Gatz of Cattlemen's Connection. "Other individuals want two, three, four or more animals and have us bid only on those specific animals. If they can't get those animals, they don't want any others, and we understand that. "The Sight Unseen Program is totally a customer service program. We're very upfront about this program. I'd estimate that 25 percent of the animals in a typical Cattlemen's Connection managed sale go to Sight Unseen bidders, and a majority of those are repeat customers." The sale cattle will be available for viewing starting Friday morning, Oct. 31, with a presale social set for Friday evening. Lunch will be served sale day.
