Amarillo livestock salesThe Amarillo Livestock Auction, Amarillo, Texas, reported receipts of 1,126 head Oct. 21, compared to 614 head last week and 1,401 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder steers were steady on a light test, heifers were $1 to $5 higher. Slaughter cows were $1 to $3 higher, slaughter bulls were $2 to $4 higher. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Trade and demand were moderate to good. Slaughter cows made up 1% of the offering, slaughter bulls 0%, replacement cows 3% and feeders 96%. The feeder supply included 31% steers and 69% heifers, with nearly 40% of the run over 600 pounds. Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 375 to 400 lbs., 118.00 to 125.00; package 435 lbs., 127.00, 450 to 500 lbs., 106.00 to 110.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 94.50 to 108.00; 600 to 630 lbs., 92.00 to 95.25, 625 to 650 lb. calves 84.50 to 87.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 94.50 to 97.50.
