Tulia livestock sales report

The Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 954 head Oct. 13, compared to 1,645 head last week and 2,582 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture Market News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas.
Compared to last week, feeder steers were steady to $2 higher. Feeder heifers were steady on a light test. Slaughter cows and bulls were not enough for a market test. Trade and demand were moderate. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 900-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 2% of the offering and feeders 98%. The feeder supply included 54% steers and 46% heifers, with nearly 55% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 500 to 600 lbs., 92.50 to 99.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 91.00 to 96.50; lot 719 lbs., 97.60, lot 736 lb. calves 88.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 94.50 to 95.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 696 lb. calves 86.00; package 780 lb. calves 85.50.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, lot 376 lbs., 100.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 91.50 to 99.75; 500 to 600 lbs., 92.00 to 94.00; lot 697 lbs., 88.00, lot 659 lb. calves 84.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 45.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 36.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 47.00; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 30.00 to 31.00; 85 to 90% lean, under 800 lbs., 29.50 to 33.00.

Slaughter bulls: Low dressing, 1000 to 1250 lbs., 51.00 to 52.50.
