Trostel honored as Friend of CSU Extension

Colorado

Mark Trostel, Chief of the Colorado State Patrol, was honored in early October at the Colorado State University Extension Awards Ceremony with the Colorado "Friend of Extension" award.

Chief Trostel's relationship with Extension began during his youth as a 4-H member. His participation led him to become involved with Extension as a 4-H leader, State Advisory Committee Member, and Fair Board Member.

Chief Trostel has demonstrated tremendous support for Extension through his tireless dedication as a leader for numerous county project seminars. He started, sustained and grew a 4-H club and supported countless county fair events. He serves on the state and local Extension advisory subcommittees.

Trostel is an outstanding advocate for Extension locally, on a state level and nationally. His dedication and work for Extension has led to critical meetings involving influential people that opened doors to a productive working relationship between the Colorado Department of Public Safety and Colorado State University. Nationally he has formally spoken about our partnership and Extension's role in that partnership during the triennial meeting of the International Association of Chiefs of Police.

This connection has allowed faculty and students to develop an increased awareness of Extension personally as well as actively share those experiences with other departments on campus, becoming Extension ambassadors. Chief Trostel has referred to CSU and Extension as the "Go To University" numerous times.
