St. Onge livestock sales

The St. Onge Livestock Sales Co., Ltd., St. Onge, S.D., reported receipts of 1,602 head Oct. 10, compared to 2,122 head last week and 2,757 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Due to a difference in numbers and weights on offer, no accurate trends were available for feeder steers and heifers, but a weaker undertone was noted. Steer and heifer calves sold mostly $2 to $4 lower. Buyer attendance was moderate with moderate demand. The supply consisted of 68% steers, 32% heifers, and 41% weighing over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 10 head, 359 lbs., 116.00; 424 to 443 lbs., 111.00 to 114.00 (113.57); 465 to 494 lbs., 103.50 to 106.50 (105.26); 500 to 548 lbs., 100.00 to 106.25 (102.97); 554 to 582 lbs., 97.00 to 102.50 (99.71); 605 to 643 lbs., 95.25 to 99.50 (96.76) calves; 14 head, 688 lbs., 98.00; 675 to 694 lbs., 92.50 to 97.00 (95.92) calves; 10 head, 700 lbs., 94.50 calves; 13 head, 757 lbs., 92.50 calves; 819 to 821 lbs., 94.25 to 95.75 (95.37); 6 head, 881 lbs., 93.00; 14 head, 926 91.75.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 8 head, 382 lbs., 105.00; 401 to 432 lbs., 102.00 to 103.00 (102.35); 470 to 498 lbs., 97.00 to 102.50 (99.84); 510 to 546 lbs., 90.50 to 95.75 (92.74); 20 head, 500 lbs., 97.00 value added; 555 to 596 lbs., 88.75 to 91.50 (89.60); 556 to 564 lbs., 95.00 to 97.00 (95.78) value added; 8 head, 687 lbs., 87.50 calves; 17 head, 839 to 844 lbs., 88.00 to 89.00 (88.53); 917 to 942 lbs., 88.50 to 89.50 (88.74); 14 head, 979 lbs., 89.00.
