Russell County Extension hosting prescribed burning workshop

Kansas

K-State Research and Extension, Russell County, Russell County Conservation District, Russell County NRCS and Russell County Farm Service Agency will present "Prescribed Burning Workshop" Oct. 31 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at the Russell 4-H Building.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the program starts at 9:30 a.m. Topics include: CRP Maintenance and Management Practices; Why and When to Burn; Burn Notification and Local Regulations; Using a Burn Contractor; Burn Terminology and Fire Behavior; Planning and Conducting a Burn; and Burn Equipment Demonstration.

Lunch is sponsored by UMB Bank, Russell and Luray.

Russell County producer registration will be paid by Russell County Conservation District. Workshop certificates issued to county producers to meet Russell County burn regulations.

The cost for out-of-county residents is $10. Call the Russell County Extension Office at 785-483-3157 to register by Oct. 27.
