Joplin regional cattle salesThe Joplin Regional Stockyards, Joplin, Mo., reported receipts of 2,729 head Oct. 6, compared to 4,400 head last week and 2,687 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo. Compared to last week, steers and heifers sold $4 to $6 lower. The supply was very light and demand moderate to light. Quality was not as attractive as normal. Lower market prices over the last month and futures down the limit added to the decision not to sell. Many weights have declined as much as $20 per hundred over the last month. The feeder supply included 44% steers, 40% heifers, 15% bulls, with 51% over 600 pounds. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 114.00 to 116.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 106.00 to 118.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 102.00 to 108.00; 600 to 650 lbs., 94.00 to 101.00; lot 707 lbs., 93.00; lot 929 lbs., 93.50.
