The 2008 annual convention for ICON members has been set for Nov. 1, in Valentine, Neb., and the agenda is packed with speakers and information

An 8:15 a.m., registration at the Valentine High School gym will follow with a government relations time slot filled with State Congressmen M.L. 'Caps' Dierks, Annette Dubas, LeRoy Louden, Deb Fischer and Mark Christensen.

The cattlemen will be given a short break and head right into Animal Health with Kenny Fox. Lobbyist Jess Peterson of the U.S. Cattlemen Association will talk on issues in Washington, D.C. Carbon Credits and Wind Energy will be discussed by John Hansen and Graham Christensen of Nebraska Farmers Union.

Another short break will precede Peterson once again as he will talk about the new Beef checkoff bill. Property rights and related issues will be presented by Tanya Storer and Sheri Vinton.

A business meeting for ICON members will be conducted from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., after another short break which will lead into happy hour from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., with a banquet at 7 p.m. Derry Brownfield from the Brownfield Network will be the keynote speaker.
