High Plains slaughter news

High Plains weighted average direct slaughter cattle sales for the week ending Oct. 12, totaled 130,783 head, compared to 131,444 head last week and 199,754 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, St. Joseph, Mo.

The report was based on sales in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 4,305 head, 1,330 to 1,485 lbs., 85.00 to 92.00 (88.25); 65 to 80% Choice, 4,898 head, 1,275 to 1,475 lbs., 85.00 to 94.00 (89.81); 35 to 65% Choice, 31,390 head, 1,050 to 1,475 lbs., 85.00 to 94.00 (91.79); 0 to 35% Choice, 1,059 head, 1,200 to 1,400 lbs., 90.00 to 92.00 (91.74).
