Goldthwaite sheep sales

The Mills County Commission Co., Goldthwaite, Texas, Oct. 10, reported 1,878 head of sheep and goats, compared to 1,656 head last week and 1,501 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, stock and feeder lambs were not tested. Slaughter lambs were steady. Stock and feeder goats were not tested. Slaughter goats were $3 to $5 lower. Demand was moderate. The supply included around 40% sheep including nearly 250 lambs. Prices per CWT unless specified.

Stock and feeder: Dorper ewes, 80 to 120 lbs., 40.00 to 55.00. Dorper bucks, 120.00 to 150.00 per head. Barbados ewes, 60 to 90 lbs., 20.00 to 40.00. Barbados bucks, 100.00 to 500.00 per head.

Slaughter lambs: Good and Choice 1 to 3, 40 to 85 lbs., 80.00 to 96.00. Slaughter ewes, Good 2 to 3, fleshy, few 140 lbs., 25.00. Utility 1 to 3, Medium fleshy, few 90 to 120 lbs., 25.00. Slaughter bucks, 100 to 200 lbs., 40.00 to 48.00. Barbados, lambs, 15 to 40 lbs., 75.00 to 80.00; 40 to 80 lbs., 75.00 to 90.00.

Slaughter goats: Kids, Selection 1, 40 to 60 lbs., 80.00 to 95.00, few to 96.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 80.00 to 95.00. Selection 2, 40 to 60 lbs., 80.00 to 87.00, 60 to 80 lbs., 80.00 to 86.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 20.00 to 30.00. Billies, 90 to 200 lbs., 70.00 to 76.00. Muttons, Selection, few 81 lbs., 70.00.

Replacement goats: Kids, Selection 1, 40 to 60 lbs., fancy 100.00 to 265.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 40.00 to 65.00. Selection 2, 80 to 130 lbs., 20.00 to 40.00. Billies, Selection 1, 135.00 to 250.00 per head.
