Georgia livestock auction summary

The summary of Georgia cattle auctions for the week ending Oct. 10, showed receipts of 9,807 head, compared to 12,611 head last week and 13,300 head last year, according to the USDA-Georgia Department of Agriculture Market News, Thomasville, Ga.

Compared to last week, slaughter cows were $1 to $3 higher, bulls were steady to $2 lower, feeder steers and heifers were $3 to $5 lower, steer calves and heifer calves were $2 to $4 lower, and replacement cows were mostly steady to $3 higher. The offering included 9% steers over 600 pounds, 33% steers under 600 pounds, 7% heifers over 600 pounds, 26% heifers under 600 pounds, 9% feeder cows, 14% slaughter cows and 2% bulls.
