Ericson cattle sales report

The Ericson-Spalding Livestock Auction, Ericson, Neb., reported receipts of 2,500 head Oct. 11, compared to 3,500 head last week and 2,900 head last year, according to the USDA-Nebraska Department of Agriculture Market News, Kearney, Neb.

Compared to last week, feeder calves and yearlings trended steady to $2 lower. The main run of spring calves was of average quality, with yearling cattle showing quite a bit of fill. Receipts consisted of 47% steers and 53% heifers, 38% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 275 to 299 lbs., 125.00 to 130.50 (127.67); 363 to 395 lbs., 126.50 to 128.00 (127.33); 400 to 449 lbs., 109.00 to 126.00 (116.65); 456 to 493 lbs., 108.00 to 115.25 (110.21); 539 to 542 lbs., 108.10 to 111.50 (110.49); 558 to 584 lbs., 101.50 to 108.00 (104.91); 20 head, 616 lbs., 101.00 fleshy; 18 head, 680 lbs., 99.75; 8 head, 750 lbs., 95.00; 6 head, 769 lbs., 99.25 fleshy; 46 head, 872 lbs., 98.75 full. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 20 head, 404 lbs., 113.50; 27 head, 478 lbs., 106.25; 17 head, 562 to 573 lbs., 101.50 to 104.50 (102.93).
