Dalhart livestock sales report

The Cattleman's Livestock Auction, Dalhart, Texas, reported receipts of 1,749 head Oct. 9, compared to 1,231 head last week and 1,846 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture Market News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, fleshy and non-weaned feeder steers and heifers were mostly steady, pre-conditioned offerings were steady to $3 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls were weak to $2 lower. Trade and demand were moderate. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 325- to 875-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows made up 20% of the offering, slaughter bulls 1%, replacement cows 1%, and feeders 78%. The feeder supply included 50% steers and 50% heifers, with nearly 30% of the run over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, package 247 lbs., pre-conditioned 141.70; 300 to 400 lbs., 119.00 to 125.00, two packages 318 to 349 lbs., pre-conditioned 129.00 to 135.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 106.00 to 110.00, pre-conditioned 116.50 to 121.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 96.00 to 101.00, pre-conditioned 102.00 to 107.50; 600 to 700 lb. calves 90.00 to 96.00; package 769 lbs., 92.50; 700 to 800 lb. calves 85.00 to 86.00; package 894 lbs., 86.00, package 836 lb. calves 83.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400 to 500 lbs., 102.00 to 108.00; two packages 530 to 535 lbs., 94.00 to 100.50; lot 688 lbs., 97.00; package 738 lbs., 89.00. Medium and large frame 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 95.00 to 96.00; three packages 408 to 457 lbs., 86.00 to 95.00.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, package 294 lbs., 126.00, package 257 lbs., pre-conditioned 146.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 98.00 to 100.00, pre-conditioned 103.50 to 114.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 89.00 to 96.00, lot 474 lbs., fleshy 86.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 85.00 to 90.00, pre-conditioned 92.50 to 96.00; three packages 613 to 636 lbs., 80.00 to 92.00; two lots 730 to 794 lbs., 84.00 to 89.50; lot 873 lbs., 88.25, package 806 lb. calves 76.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 536 lbs., 85.00, package 595 lbs., yearlings 92.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 83.00 to 89.00, pre-conditioned 90.50 to 91.00; package 725 lbs., 87.00, package 796 lb. calves 80.00. Medium and large frame 2, two packages 834 to 880 lbs., 74.00.

Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1300 lbs., 44.50 to 50.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 44.50 to 47.50; low dressing, 41.00 to 43.00; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 44.00 to 45.50; low dressing, 36.00 to 38.50.

Dairy cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1500 to 1600 lbs., 45.00 to 50.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 44.50 to 46.25; low dressing, 36.50 to 41.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 55.50 to 59.00.
