Colorado feeder cattle summary

The Colorado Auction Feeder Cattle Summary, Greeley, Colo., reported receipts of 6,410 head Oct. 10, compared to 6,212 head last week and 10,350 head last year, according to the USDA-Colorado Department of Agriculture Market News, Greeley, Colo.

Compared to last week, yearling steers and heifers sold $2 to $3 lower, instances of $5 lower. Steer calves sold mostly, $3 to $5 lower, $5 to $8 lower on heifer calves. Demand was moderate at best. The cattle futures complex continued to decline this week along with all other commodities. Buyers are beginning to show more interest in calves weighing over 600 pounds. The supply was made up of 63% feeder steers, 37% feeder heifers, with about 48% of total feeder supply was over 600 pounds.
