American Agri-Women to convene in San, AntonioThe 33rd Annual National American Agri-Women's Convention will be held in beautiful San Antonio, Texas, Nov. 5 to 9, 2008, at the historic Menger Hotel just steps from the infamous Alamo. Texas will be to host more than 350 delegates from across the nation as they convene to discuss issues facing American Agriculture. Panel representatives from Canada, Mexico and the U.S. will be participating to discuss National and International issues. In addition, policy-making and leadership roles will be conducted through roundtable discussions on rural public policy and what it takes to excel in today's business and political environment including immigration, NAFTA superhighway, global warming, and the fair tax. Guest speakers Agriculture Commission, Todd Staples. As Agriculture Commissioner, he continues to pursue policies that enable economic strength, youth development, healthy lifestyles and consumer protection. He is charting a course to bring job creation to rural Texas, further the promotion of Texas products around the world, and help farmers and ranchers face tomorrow's challenges and increase profit margins through the use of new technologies and value-added processing. Tim Findley, Investigative Reporter will be Keynote Speaker. Findley made a name for himself during the most liberal decade in the nation's most liberal metropolis as a leftist journalist. As a journalist for the San Francisco Chronicle--he broke the stories on Patty Heast while working there. Rolling Stone, UPI, KPIX-TV and KGO-TV also grace his resume. In reality, he was never that far above the underground press and antiestablishment politics he reported on. Findley, now headquarters is Fallon, Nevada, covering issues dear to America's rural people as a mainstay writer for Range Magazine. He fights urban media bias with good independent journalism. He tells the stories of these people... cattlemen, ranchers, farmers. Dr. Robert C. Balling, Jr., Professor, in the climatology program in the School of Geographical Sciences at Arizona State University will speak on climatological issues facing our world today. He is the author of several books on climate change. His first book is entitled The Heated Debate: Greenhouse Predictions Versus Climate Reality, his second book is entitled Interactions of Desertification and Climate, and his third book is entitled The Satanic Gases: Clearing the Air about Global Warming. A fourth book entitled Climate of Extremes should be published later in 2008. Dan Byfield, President, American Land Foundation. Byfield became involved in property rights issues after graduating from law school and taking a position at the Texas Capitol in 1987. He then became a lobbyist for agriculture with the Texas Farm Bureau and later the Farm Credit Bank of Texas, where the American Land Foundation was founded in 1994. His organization has challenged the Endangered Species Act all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court and is now working with Stewards of the Range by implementing the "Coordination" strategy protecting local communities nationwide. In addition to the business at hand, attendees will have the opportunity to experience Texas firsthand as they cruise on barges and dine along the San Antonio River. Tours will also allow attendees and their spouses to sample many local venues associated with Texas Agriculture. The convention will conclude with a Champagne Cowboys Hot Chili Nights banquet. As the name implies, this will be an extra special event not be missed. There will be unique opportunities to contribute to the American Agri-Women through a beautiful style show, closing awards, and officer installations.
