Goldthwaite sheep sales

The Mills County Commission Co., Goldthwaite, Texas, Oct. 3, reported receipts of 1,645 head of sheep and goats, compared to 2,158 head last week and 1,727 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, stock and feeder lambs were not tested. Lightweight slaughter lambs were $3 to $5 lower, and heavy weights were not tested. Stock and feeder goats were not tested. Slaughter goats were steady to weak. Demand was moderate. The supply included around 40% sheep including nearly 250 lambs. Prices per CWT unless specified.

Stock and feeder: Dorper ewes, 90 to 115 lbs., 44.00 to 70.00. Dorper bucks, 100 to 200 lbs., 47.00 to 70.00. Barbados ewes, few 60 to 90 lbs., 30.00 to 45.00.

Slaughter lambs: Good and Choice 1 to 3, 40 to 85 lbs., 80.00 to 95.00. Good, 40 to 85 lbs., 75.00 to 80.00. Barbados, lambs, 40 to 80 lbs., 79.00 to 90.00; ewes, few 60 to 90 lbs., 30.00 to 35.00. Slaughter bucks, 100 to 200 lbs., 30.00 to 41.00.

Slaughter goats: Kids, Selection 1, 40 to 60 lbs., 90.00 to 99.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 87.00 to 98.00. Selection 2, 40 to 60 lbs., 80.00 to 90.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 80.00 to 90.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 15.00 to 30.00. Billies, 90 to 200 lbs., 60.00 to 70.00.

Replacement goats: Kids, Selection 1, few 54 lbs., Spanish nannies 98.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 30.00 to 60.00. Billies, Selection 1, 100 to 150 lbs., 77.00 to 127.00.
