Entries accepted for 35th annual Southeast Colorado Bull Test

Colorado

Entries for bulls to participate in the 35th annual Southeast Colorado Bull Test are currently being accepted. The test will again be held at Trail City Livestock south of Holly, Colo. Entry forms must be postmarked by Oct. 14, or may be faxed to the Kiowa County Extension office at 719-438-5314. Receiving date at the feedlot is set for Oct. 28.

All of the bulls must have a negative BVD test prior to arrival. Test samples may be submitted to the CSU Diagnostic Lab at Rocky Ford, Colo. Please specify on the sample and on the request form that they are for the Southeast Colorado Bull Test.

After arrival at the feedlot, the bulls will go through a three week adjustment period before officially being weighed on test. Vaccination protocols will be performed during this time as well. The official 112-day test period will begin on Nov. 18. Bulls will be weighed three times during the test period to track their progress with published reports after each weigh day. Upon completion of the test, producers will receive performance data, ultra-sound carcass data, and breeding soundness data on their bulls.

Copies of the Rules and Regulations, Calendar, and a Nomination form are available on the Internet at: http://kiowacounty.colostate.edu, click on "Agricultural Programs." If you have specific questions about the test, please call the Kiowa County Extension office at 719-438-5321.
