Tulia livestock sales reportThe Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 2,777 head Oct. 27, compared to 1,018 head last week and 2,764 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were $2 to $5 lower. Slaughter cows and bulls were $1 to $2 higher. Trade and demand were moderate to good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 900-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 4% of the offering, replacement cows 1% and feeders 95%. The feeder supply included 68% steers and 32% heifers, with nearly 73% of the run over 600 pounds.
