Salina cattle sales report

The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 1,850 head Oct. 23, compared to 700 head last week and 2,695 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared to last week, steers and heifers were not enough from the week before to produce a good comparison for a market test. Good attendance and prices reflected that trade and demand were much better this week. Receipts included 87% 600 pounds and over, 12% 600 pounds and under, 1% slaughter cows. The feeder supply included 71% steers and 29% heifers.
