Ogallala livestock sales

The Ogallala Livestock Auction Market, Ogallala, Neb., reported receipts of 2,500 head Oct. 23, compared to 2,500 head last week and 4,000 head last year, according to the USDA-Nebraska Department of Agriculture Market News, Kearney, Neb.

Compared to last week, steers and heifers were $2 to $9 higher. Demand was good on all weights. Steers accounted for 80% and heifers 20% of the total receipts. Weights over 600 pounds accounted for 17% of the offering.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 322 to 344 lbs., 122.50 to 126.00 (125.08); 360 to 388 lbs., 125.00 to 132.50 (128.42); 403 to 411 lbs., 129.50 to 130.00 (129.77); 454 to 490 lbs., 114.00 to 118.10 (116.37); 200 head, 452 lbs., 123.75 value added; 503 to 538 lbs., 108.60 to 114.50 (111.95); 551 to 568 lbs., 105.00 to 112.00 (111.08); 611 to 641 lbs., 98.00 to 100.00 (98.77); 650 to 699 lbs., 92.00 to 102.00 (98.94); 711 to 739 lbs., 93.50 to 99.00 (97.60); 5 head, 776 lbs., 97.50; 825 to 833 lbs., 99.60 to 99.75 (99.64); 58 head, 942 lbs., 96.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 419 to 446 lbs., 117.00 to 118.75 (118.35); 11 head, 497 lbs., 106.00; 586 to 598 lbs., 96.50 to 101.10 (98.64).

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 386 to 399 lbs., 104.00 to 108.00 (106.40); 401 to 431 lbs., 102.00 to 110.00 (108.05); 455 to 487 lbs., 100.00 to 107.50 (105.39); 501 to 535 lbs., 95.00 to 100.00 (97.92); 37 head, 530 lbs., 111.25 value added; 551 to 580 lbs., 90.00 to 95.50 (93.16); 604 to 633 lbs., 91.00 to 94.00 (92.52); 9 head, 926 lbs., 90.75. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 17 head, 483 to 499 lbs., 92.00 to 98.75 (94.85).
