Montanans can market beef as certified, naturalHELENA, Mont. (AP)--Montana ranchers now have the option of marketing their cattle and beef under the Montana Certified Natural Beef Cattle Program. To qualify, the cattle must have been born and raised in Montana, eat natural feed without drugs or animal byproducts and be raised without the use of synthetic hormones. The cattle can't be given antibiotics if they aren't sick. The state Department of Agriculture will certify ranches with inspections by the Montana State University Extension Service. The Department of Livestock is the enforcement arm. 11/3/08 Date: 10/29/08 Advertisement
