Grain bids close higher

There was a higher close for all grains with more buying interest for soybeans, according to the National Grain Market Summary, Oct. 27. Grains seemed to discount the higher dollar and lower crude oil.

Wheat closed 5 to 18 cents higher. Corn traded 10 to 12 cents higher. Soybeans closed 25 to 39 cents higher.

Grains inspected for export for week ending Oct. 23: Wheat totaled 21.9 million bushels, up 3.2 million bushels; corn 21.2 million bushels, down 8.8 million bushels; sorghum 2.5 million bushels, down 1.1 million bushels and soybeans 41.3 million bushels, down 3.5 million bushels compared to a week ago.

Year to date: Wheat totaled 523.0 million bushels down 65.1 million; corn 248.7 million bushels down 98.6 million; sorghum 28.2 million bushels down 29.3 million and soybeans 138.6 million bushels down 33.8 million. Crop marketing years begin June 1 for wheat and September 1 for corn, sorghum, and soybeans.

In the futures close, Kansas City December wheat was $5.64 1/2, up 39 cents.

Terminal wheat bids, paid for truck delivery, included Kansas City, $5.13 to $5.15, up 18 cents; Minneapolis, $6.63 3/4, up 17 cents; Portland, $4.75, no change; St. Louis, $3.82, up 5 cents.

Terminal corn bids, U.S. No. 2 yellow, price paid for truck deliver, included: Kansas City, $3.70 to $3.73, up 12 cents; Minneapolis, $3.40 1/4, up 11 1/2 cents; southern Iowa, $3.47 1/4 to $3.49 3/4, up 17 1/2 to 10 cents; Omaha, $3.74 to $3.78, up 12 cents.

Terminal soybean bids, U.S. No. 1, price paid for truck delivery, included: Kansas City, $8.83, up 39 cents; Minneapolis, $8.75, up 54 1/4 cents; southern Iowa, $8.47 to $8.55, up 25 1/4 to 24 1/4 cents; central Illinois processors, $8.88 to $8.93, up 29 1/4 cents.

Kansas City wheat prices Oct. 28, spot, fob track, included: No. 1 hard red winter wheat, ordinary protein, $5.58 1/4 to $6.30 1/4, down 1 1/4 to up 3/4 cents; 12% protein, $6.16 1/4 to $6.31 1/4, down 1 1/4 to down 3 1/4 cents; 13% protein, $6.28 1/4 to $6.55 1/4, up 8 3/4 to 18 3/4 cents; 14% protein, $6.43 1/4 to $6.58 1/4, up 21 3/4 cents. U.S. No. 2 soft red winter wheat was $3.78 1/4 to $4.78 1/4, down 11 1/4 cents. U.S. No. 2 white corn was $3.89 to $4.01, unchanged.
