Georgia livestock auction summary

The summary of Georgia cattle auctions for the week ending Oct. 24, showed receipts of 10,190 head, compared to 9,533 head last week and 12,479 head last year, according to the USDA-Georgia Department of Agriculture Market News, Thomasville, Ga.

Compared to one week ago, slaughter cows were $1 to $2 higher, bulls were steady to $1 higher, feeder steers and heifers were $1 to $3 higher, steer calves were $2 to $4 higher, heifer calves were $2 to $3 higher, replacement cows were $2 to $3 higher. The offering included 9% steers over 600 pounds, 32% steers under 600 pounds, 6% heifers over 600 pounds, 26% heifers under 600 pounds, 9% feeder cows, 15% slaughter cows, and 3% bulls.
