Cooler than average temps seenColorado Most of Colorado received below normal amounts of moisture during the week ending Oct. 26 and temperatures were slightly cooler than the average for this time of year, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service, Colorado Field Office, Oct. 27. These conditions allowed producers 5.9 days suitable for field operations. Winter wheat was 95 percent emerged with the crop in mostly good condition. The corn crop was 99 percent mature and 61 percent harvested with the crop in mostly fair to good condition. Ninety-nine percent of the corn silage crop has been harvested. Sorghum was 99 percent mature and 47 percent harvested with the crop in mostly fair to poor condition. The dry bean crop was 98 percent cut, 90 percent harvested, and in mostly fair to good condition for the week. Dry onions were 99 percent harvested. Sugar beets were 60 percent harvested and in mostly good condition. The sunflower crop was 62 percent harvested and rated in mostly fair to excellent condition. The summer and fall potato harvest was complete by week's end. Pasture and range conditions were rated in mostly fair to good condition. Fourth cutting alfalfa harvest was 65 percent complete by week's end. The crop was rated in mostly fair to good condition. Death losses for cattle and sheep were rated just below average.
