Colorado feeder cattle salesThe Colorado Auction Feeder Cattle Summary, Greeley, Colo., reported receipts of 9,932 head Oct. 24, compared to 8,240 head last week and 16,550 head last year, according to the USDA-Colorado Department of Agriculture Market News, Greeley, Colo. Compared to last week, yearling steers and heifers too lightly tested to trend. Steer calves sold $3 to $5 higher, $5 to $8 higher on calves weighing under 600 pounds. Heifer calves weighing over 600 pounds sold steady to $3 higher, under 600 pounds were $5 to $8 higher. Demand is good. An upward movement of cattle prices, despite a decrease in cattle futures for much of the week, prevailed throughout the state of Colorado. Buyers continue to show interest in calves weighing under 600 pounds. The supply was made up of 61% feeder steers, 39% feeder heifers, with about 36% of total feeder supply over 600 pounds.
