Arkansas livestock sales summary

The weekly summary of livestock sales in Arkansas showed estimated receipts of 10,775 head Oct. 23, compared to 5,400 head last week and 9,525 head last year, according to the Arkansas Extension Service-USDA Market News, Little Rock, Ark.

Compared to last week, slaughter cows sold mostly steady $1 higher. Slaughter bulls sold steady. Feeders sold mostly steady to $5 higher. The supply was composed of 6,520 stocker and feeder calves, 2,300 feeder yearlings, 815 replacement cows, 995 slaughter cows and 145 slaughter bulls. The feeder supply was 40% yearling heifers.

Slaughter cows: Breakers 75 to 80% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 43.00 to 49.00; high dressing, 49.00 to 53.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1400 lbs., 44.00 to 50.00; high dressing, 50.00 to 57.00; low dressing, 43.00 to 44.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 900 to 1300 lbs., 39.00 to 45.00; high dressing, 45.00 to 52.00; low dressing, 30.00 to 39.00. Light, 85 to 92% lean, 700 to 950 lbs., 32.00 to 37.00; low dressing, 22.00 to 32.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1000 to 2100 lbs., 54.00 to 62.00; high dressing, 62.00 to 68.00; low dressing, 45.00 to 54.00.
