Amarillo livestock salesThe Amarillo Livestock auction, Amarillo, Texas, reported receipts of 1,125 head Oct. 28, compared to 1,126 head last week and 1,769 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers mixed and uneven with those over 700 pounds were $2 to $4 lower and calves under 700 pounds were $5 to $10 lower except native reputation calves were weak to $3 lower. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400- to 825-pound feeder steers and heifers. Trade was slow and demand light. Slaughter cows made up 8% of the offering, slaughter bulls 1%, replacement cows 1% and feeders 90%. The feeder supply included 61% steers and 39% heifers, with nearly 63% of the run weighed over 600 pounds. Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 114.00 to 118.00; 400 to 475 lbs., few 112.00 to 120.50; few 500 to 525 lbs., 96.50 to 105.00; 600 to 675 lbs., calves few 87.00 to 88.00; 700 to 800 lbs., loads 95.00 to 96.00, calves package 729 lbs., 85.00; load 818 lbs., 95.25. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 450 to 500 lbs., 96.00 to 106.00; few 500 to 600 lbs., 88.00 to 95.00; 600 to 650 lbs., calves 83.00 to 87.00; 800 to 900 few 84.50 to 93.50. Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 600 to 700 lbs., 71.00 to 79.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 71.00 to 72.00. Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 95.00 to 105.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 87.00 to 96.00, reputation 104.00 to 106.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 82.00 to 90.50, reputation 93.00 to 95.50; 600 to 700 lbs., calves 80.50 to 84.00; 750 to 800 lbs., 82.50 to 84.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 45.00 to 49.00; high dressing, 50.50; low dressing, 36.75 to 44.00; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 43.00 to 46.00; low dressing, 30.50 to 41.00.
