Wyobraska cattle sales reportThe combined sales volume of Wyoming, western Nebraska and western North and South Dakota auctions for the week ending Nov. 15, totaled 14,600 head, compared to 9,900 head last week and 9,400 head last year, according to the USDA-Wyoming Department of Agriculture Market News, Torrington, Wyo. Compared to last week at Wyoming auctions, steer and heifers calves were steady to $3 higher and yearling steers and heifers were steady to $2 higher. Overall quality was very good with good demand. There was a large buyer attendance at the auctions this week and demand was good to moderate. Direct trading was slow to moderate and demand was light to moderate. Comparable steer sales were steady to $2 higher than last week, heifers were not comparable due to light receipts. Buyer inquiry was light to moderate for moderate offerings. Unless otherwise noted direct prices are current FOB with a 2 to 3% shrink or equivalent, and with a 5 to 10 cent slide on calves and 3 to 6 cent slide on yearlings from base weight. Steers made up approximately 61% of the total receipts, heifers 39%, with 36% over 600 pounds totaled 36%. Direct sales accounted for 3150 head of the total receipts.
